Patients Out of Time Presents Cannabis and Psychedelic Researchers Hall of Fame celebrating the pioneering scientists, clinicians, and thought leaders whose work has advanced the understanding of cannabis and psychedelic medicine. This presentation will introduce the inaugural Hall of Fame honorees, recognizing dedicated research, advocacy, and clinical innovation that have shaped today’s evolving therapeutic landscape. Attendees will gain insight into the historical milestones, scientific breakthroughs, and ongoing challenges in these fields, while honoring the individuals whose contributions continue to influence policy, patient care, and future research. This presentation offers both a tribute and an inspiration highlighting the critical role of evidence-based science in unlocking the full potential of plant-based and psychedelic therapies. Patients Out of Time is the longest serving advocacy organization giving CME's for Cannabis Education having just celebrated 30 years of operations under the leadership of Mary Lynn Mathre who is a Navy Veteran and nurse by profession.
Scheril Murray Powell, Esq., is a multifaceted legal professional renowned for her expertise in contracts, agricultural, cannabis, dietary supplement, regulatory, trade and more recently Immigration law. Currently practicing at Doumar, Allsworth, Laystrom, Voigt, Adair, and Dishowitz LLP, Scheril was elected as the International President and Local 12 President of The Ethiopian World Federation, Inc. and is the Founder of the Cannabis HR Council. She has recently been appointed as the Executive Director of Patients Out of Time, one of the longest serving Cannabis Advocacy Organizations. She sits on the ASTM International D37 Committee on Cannnabis' Executive Committee as the Chair of the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Subcommittee. She is regarded internationally for her work on policy related to Global Tribal Community Rights and the Sacramental Use of Cannabis. In February, 2025, she was appointed to The Global Cannabis and Psychedelic Research Collaboratory and the Intersectional Research in Stigmatized Communities (iRISE) Laboratory at the University of Miami Cannabis Nurse Task Force as and Advisory Board Member and is now serving on the Board of the Georgia Cannabusiness Chamber of Commerce . She is on the Board of Black Gotham in New York City.
In addition to her legal prowess, her vast experience includes serving as the Former Chief Operating Officer of the JUSTÜS Foundation and Chair of the Broward County Medical Marijuana Advisory Board.
Recognized for her exceptional contributions, Scheril has been named one of the Top 12 Cannabis Attorneys in Florida by The Daily Business Review and honored in the High Times 100 and the Top 28 Most influential African Americans in the history of the United States with regards to Drug and Cannabis Policy by Honeysuckle Magazine. She is a Florida licensed Hemp Farmer and a Research Farmer for the University of Florida. In 2026 she was honored as the 100 Black People who built the Cannabis Industry.
Committed to advocacy and community service, Scheril serves on various boards and is the President of consulting firm Green Sustainable Strong, LLC. Her dedication extends to volunteering with the Winrock Foundation, delivering Marketing training to Farmers in Ghana, Africa.

Mary Lynn (ML) Mathre is the Co-founder of Patients Out of Time and Past President and Founding Member of the American Cannabis Nurses Association (ACNA). Mary Lynn graduated from the College of St. Teresa In Winona, MN in 1975 and began her nursing career in the U.S. Navy Nurse Corps. She earned her MS degree from Case Western Reserve University in 1985 and her thesis was on Marijuana Disclosure to Health Care Professionals. Originally a medical surgical nurse, Ms. Mathre changed specialties in 1987 and has been a certified addictions registered nurse (CARN) since 1989. She began as the charge nurse on the Addiction Treatment Unit at the University of Virginia Health System, and later as the first Clinician 5 (expert level), she was the Addictions Consult Nurse for UVA Health System until 2002. She later was Exec. Dir. of an opioid dependence treatment center in Charlottesville.

Shanetha Marable-Lewis is the Executive Director of Veterans Initiative 22, a non-profit organization whose mission is veteran suicide prevention with a focus on affordable access to medical cannabis for the veteran community. Shanetha is a decorated Army combat veteran who proudly served in both OEF and OIF, earning several awards for her exemplary service. She went onto attend WVU, where she earned her a BA in International Studies graduating Magna Cum Laude. Shanetha began her career in cannabis as a patient consultant at a medical cannabis dispensary while stationed at JBLM in Tacoma, Washington. The time she spent working solely with medical cannabis patients catapulted her growing interest in cannabinoid therapeutics, science, neuropsychology, and pharmacology, which led her to the UMD School of Pharmacy when in 2022 she earned a Master of Science in Medical Cannabis Science and Therapeutics. During her time at UMD she served as the VP of Marketing for the Medical Cannabis Student Association and is active with the Alumni Association (unofficial). Shanetha has a personal passion for assisting Veterans suffering from PTSD, as well as helping patients struggling with the disease of addiction. She is an advocate for Veteran suicide prevention, and safe access for ALL cannabis consumers.
