Florida Medical Cannabis Legislative Update

Abstract:
Florida’s medical cannabis program continues to evolve as lawmakers, regulators, and industry stakeholders debate the future of patient access, physician oversight, product regulation, and market structure. This presentation will provide a comprehensive update on the most recent actions taken by the Florida Legislature and state agencies affecting the medical cannabis program.
Attendees will gain insight into key legislation introduced and considered during the current legislative session, including proposals related to physician certification requirements, patient eligibility, product forms, dosing standards, vertical integration, and regulatory oversight by the Florida Department of Health and the Office of Medical Marijuana Use (OMMU). The presentation will also discuss how recent policy debates—including the outcome and implications of adult-use legalization efforts—may influence the direction of Florida’s medical program.
Designed specifically for physicians and healthcare professionals, this session will translate legislative developments into practical implications for clinical practice, compliance, and patient care. Bio:
Ron Watson, has over 30 years of experience in Florida political, regulatory and lobbying endeavors with government and major healthcare associations.
During this time, he has developed excellent relationships with executive, legislative and regulatory leadership throughout Florida government. Ron has a comprehensive knowledge of laws, rules, budgets and regulations concerning medical, dental, pharmaceutical, tort reform and insurance issues. He also has extensive political involvement with patient advocacy and grassroots organizations, as well as organizing and managing political action committees.
