The Role of Cannabinoids in Senior Health and Well-Being

As the senior population grows, there is increasing interest in the potential health benefits of cannabinoids for managing age-related conditions and improving overall well-being. This presentation will explore the therapeutic role of cannabinoids in senior health, including their impact on chronic pain, sleep disorders, anxiety, and cognitive function. We will review current research, address safety considerations, and discuss practical approaches for integrating cannabinoid therapies into senior care.
Dr. Bone is board certified in Obstetrics & Gynecology by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology (1991) and a Certified Cannabis Physician in Florida (2016). She received her medical degree from Albany Medical College and completed a residency at George Washington University Hospital. She now resides in South Florida where she owns a private practice, Dr. Melanie Bone, and is Director of Cannabinoid-Based Therapies at MorseLife Health System.
Dr. Bone is an industry consultant to both medical and cannabis companies. She is a member of the Medical Advisory Board and serves as the Chief Medical Officer USA for Daye, a novel gynecology and research company based in Liverpool.
In 2021, Dr Bone joined the faculty of Florida Atlantic University (FAU) as a Clinical Affiliate Assistant Professor. She teaches medical students about cannabis and is working conducting a study in conjunction with FAU on cannabis and dementia at MorseLife Health System.
Dr. Bone works with 2nd.md to provide second opinions about a wide range of topics including gynecology, hormones, cannabis and surgery. Patients seek her out for her expertise in managing menopause, fibroids and endometriosis, and cannabis-related concerns, all with an emphasis on solutions and support.
Dr. Bone prides herself on combining a down-to-earth bedside manner with cutting-edge clinical skills. She believes that listening well to your patients is the key to making a diagnosis and best outcomes are obtained by applying a common-sense approach to each patient’s problem. Dr. Bone embraces integrative medicine, often using both traditional and non-traditional solutions to manage complex problems.
